Geodetic monitoring

Provides the variation of the global coordinates of a point or a set of points over time, allowing the estimation of longitudinal, transverse and vertical deformations / displacements (settlements).

Geotechnical Monitoring

Instruments are used to characterize the local conditions. Common parameters of interest are: field pore pressure, soil permeability, and slope stability. The instruments are used to verify the project hypotheses and to verify the expected behavior. Early project instrumentation allows the opportunity to adjust the project in the initial stages.

GEOPHYSICAL INVESTIGATION

Groundwater characterization is often a frustrating experience. It is not easy to understand what happens with the water under our feet. When wells don't provide answers to important questions, it's typical to drill more and more... In the long run, this practice is cost prohibitive and may not provide the necessary answers.
PCP / WILLOWSTICK technology offers a practical solution to characterize groundwater.

Underground waterflows

Mapping and Modeling

PCP offers underground water preferential flow mapping and modeling services using PCP / WILLOWSTICK technology that is fast and non-intrusive in identifying, mapping and modeling preferential underground water connection paths.
Like an angiogram that allows a physician to see blood flow within the body, the PCP/WILLOWSTICK method can quickly identify underground water flow paths.
This technique is a powerful tool to identify leaks under or through landfills, leaks through inaccessible revetments, or finding preferred underground water flow paths.
The PCP / WILLOWSTICK method is an active geophysical technique. Active methods work by transmitting man-made signals, such as percussion waves or electrical currents, through the ground. By directly energizing the water of interest with strategic electrode placement, PCP/WILLOWSTICK technology makes possible to identify preferential underground water flow paths faster and more accurately when compared to other geophysical methods.
The PCP / WILLOWSTICK method works by introducing electrical current directly into the water of interest.
We use the underground water of interest as a medium to help establishing an electrical circuit.
By measuring the magnetic field generated by the flow of electric current in the water, we can identify whether there are preferential underground water connection routes and their exact location.

This unique method works as follows:


- The electrical current is induced directly into the water of interest at the elevation of interest;
- Earth materials increase the electrical conductivity of the water;
- Electric current uses underground water as a path of least resistance to complete the circuit;
- These electrical paths generate high relative magnetic fields;
- The magnetic field is measured and recorded at the surface using our proprietary instruments;
- This magnetic field reveals the location and depth of underground water connection routes.
